I think family activities are really important--fun stuff that everyone can enjoy and create good memories. We've started to walk more consistently as a family, both because it gives us quality time together away from digital media, and because we've wanted to exercise a little bit together. Another thing I want to do more frequently is hold family music nights. I've recently brushed off my digital 8-track recorder and been toughening up my guitar fingers. The plan is to be producing a new song/video each week, probably during or right after Family Home Evening.
In a previous post I mentioned a few meaningful songs that my grandpa played, and we'll probably be getting to them eventually ("O-bla-di," "Shooting on a Star," and Tom Chapin's "Family Tree"). Some others on the playlist include "Fisherman's Son" by the Rankin Family, Tim McGraw's "Where the Green Grass Grows," and probably "You've Got a Friend in Me" by Randy Newman. Hear our first recording tomorrow night!
